Strengthening Public Health Partnerships for a Healthier Lagos

Yesterday, the Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore, ably represented the Chairman, Hon. Akeem Dauda, at the ACSM TWG/Stakeholders Engagement Meeting on the Measles–Rubella Vaccine Introduction Initiative in Lagos State (January 2026).
The engagement brought together critical stakeholders across the health sector to align strategies on advocacy, communication, and social mobilization ahead of the introduction of the Measles–Rubella vaccine. Discussions focused on strengthening community awareness, addressing vaccine hesitancy, and ensuring effective collaboration among government agencies, development partners, traditional institutions, and community leaders.
Hon. Omisore reaffirmed the commitment of Ikeja Local Government to supporting all initiatives aimed at safeguarding public health, particularly those targeted at protecting children and vulnerable populations. He emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement and sustained sensitization to guarantee successful vaccine uptake and long-term disease prevention.
The meeting underscored Lagos State’s proactive approach to preventive healthcare and the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in achieving a healthier, measles- and rubella-free future for our communities.
